DAWN OF THE DEAD star David Emge has been much more active on the live stage than in film over the course of his career. Emge received his degree in theater from the University of Evansville, Indiana, and participated in productions at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and iterations of dinner theater throughout the 70s. George A. Romero’s writing partner John A. Russo cast Emge in the spoof comedy THE BOOBY HATCH in 1976, which was followed by his lead role in DAWN OF THE DEAD alongside Gaylen Ross, Scott H. Reiniger, and Ken Foree.

Emge dabbled in horror a few more times with BASKET CASE 2 (1990) and HELLMASTER (1992), but he ultimately returned to the live stage. He continues to acknowledge his role by making frequent appearances in documentaries pertaining to Romero and the history of zombie films.
